- Biography
- AJ Addae is a cosmetic chemist, clinical researcher, and chemistry PhD candidate at UCLA. As a clinical researcher and formulator, AJ saw how underserved consumers with melanin-rich skin and textured hair are in cosmetic science, and sought out to build SULA LABS - a B2B beauty lab that closes inclusivity gaps in beauty product development & clinical testing, with customers in retailers like Sephora and Ulta Beauty. AJ's cosmetic science research is published in peer-reviewed journals such as Accounts of Materials Research, and Journal of Drugs and Dermatology, and she is a TedX speaker, a Future Laboratory Future Innovators awardee, and has bylines in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Essence, InStyle, Beauty Independent, and many more. She is driven by her passion for using chemistry for social change.
